The nicer and well cared the furniture is the better your place will look. We all believe that furniture upholstery made up of leather is very classy but it doesn’t remain that way when we neglect the care that it needs because even leather wears off when it comes to carelessness.

Basic care for Leather Upholstery

The first and the foremost thing that you need to do when you buy upholstered furniture, leather or any, is that you must read the manufacturer’s manual carefully and follow the basic instructions that could help your furniture upholstery to survive for a very long time. When it comes to the cleaning of your leather upholstered furniture try to do it with the help of vacuum cleaner that helps you remove the dust from the places that you can reach. Try to clean it well and not leaves any corners because then the dirt might start to accumulate in those corners giving a very foul look to your furniture as well as the place. If you have spilt something on your furniture upholstery try to clean it very well and leave nothing on it. Clean the spilt material with a very soft, clean cloth piece or with the help of paper towels. Do not scrub while cleaning as it may give the blotchy effect due to discoloration. Preventing measures for upholstery

  • Keep your leather furniture upholstery away from the sunlight as it may have the damaging effect on the leather.
  • Also, avoid it from direct heat as there may be the chance of cracking of leather.
  • If you have a lighter shade of leather upholstered furniture then you should be careful to sit on it when wearing dark coloured clothing or denim. Be most careful when the clothing wet as it may leave irremovable stains on it.
  • Also, save your leather furniture upholstery from the excess cold temperature because it is also well known for damaging it. Continuous exposure to extreme heat and cold can damage it. If you have to keep it in the air-conditioned room then at least try not keep it in front of it.

Repair the damage

If a slight tear appears to your furniture upholstery that is made up of leather you don’t have to discard or resale the whole set but you can try to repair it on your own. IN order to do that take piece of denim almost the same size as that of the tear and place it in the tear so that it is flat behind it. Glue the pieces to the denim piece in such a way that there is no dent formed in it. Now add superglue if the surface seems uneven and add sand to fill the dent. Use the same colour polish as that of leather to make the surface look even and good as new.

With the help of above advises you can now take good care of your leather furniture upholstery.
